New Digital Order: Inside the world of Nicola Formichetti x Diesel
Nicola Formichetti is well known for his hybrid creativity, not only the brain behind some of Lady Gaga’s most iconic looks, he has also collaborated with major brands Uniqlo and Mugler while fashion director of several major international publications. Now a year into his role as artistic director for Diesel, this past F/W season he unveiled his first full collection for the italian brand, strongly supporting a mantra of inclusivity. Brooke Candy on the catwalk, a Tumblr-enabled model casting, new wave kids, tattooed models, posh kids. As Formichetti explains, “You saw all of those different coloured skins and hair colours; tall, short, curvy – and it was great because when you go outside that’s how everyone is, there’s no difference between the digital and physical world for these kids. They’re a new species, indigo children.”
As the lines continue to blur between digital and physical, new and old, masculine and feminine, we look to Formichetti, a pioneer in this ideology, for inspiration. PULP plays dress up with model Seth and Diesel’s new collection.
