Little Burgundy 5yr Anniversary

All great parties start when you walk down a dark alleyway. Even better ones happen when you’re directed into said alley by a giant foam hand on a pylon. So began our enchanted evening celebrating Canadian retailer Little Burgundy’s 5-year anniversary.  In an airy loft a too fresh crowd, a mix of über stylish Lil Burg employees, Montreal fashion folk and arty scenesters mixed and mingled cocktail in hand, to toast the brand’s milestone along with the launch of their spring/summer 2013 publication, Under Construction. Under Construction, the theme of the issue and the night, is Little Burgundy’s exploration of the act of doing, building and creating. What Little Burgundy has done in the past five years is become a go-to destination for Canadians seeking shoes and accessories from coveted designer brands like Rebecca Minkoff and Marc by Marc Jacobs through to hard-to-find indie names like Herschel Supply and Fjällräven. What they have built are 34 stores across Canada that offer up the exclusivity of a boutique but without the off-putting booshie atmosphere or hassle of availability. What they’ve created is an authentic brand with a growing number of loyal followers that is giving their sister brand, mega-retailer, Aldo some healthy sibling rivalry. What had you done by age five?
